Shifting its focus to electric vehicles and their batteries, Ford laid off about 3,000 white-collar employees in August, according to the Wall Street Journal. It represented a 1 percent reduction in Ford’s 183,000-person workforce and primarily affected workers in the United States, Canada and India, according to the Journal. On Tuesday, February 14, the automaker announced plans to cut 3,800 jobs in Europe while expanding battery production operations in Michigan as part of a broader transition to electric vehicles.
