Mario maker Nintendo has announced that it will not be attending the Los Angeles-based Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
The platform holder formally confirmed his absence from this year’s show with IGN.
In a statement to the publication, Nintendo said: “We approach our participation in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to interact with our fans. Since this year’s E3 schedule did not fit into our plans, we have made the decision. not to participate”.
The gaming firm added that it will continue to support the event and the Entertainment Software Association.
The news comes nearly a month after it was reported that Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo would have little to no presence during the event. However, Microsoft confirmed that it will hold a physical presentation of its upcoming games this summer.
E3 2023 marks the first time since 2019 that the show has been in person; the last three years were digital showcases due to the pandemic.
E3 will take place from Tuesday, June 13 through Friday, June 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
