I was at West Point during 9/11 and watched live the Twin Towers come crashing down as terrorism took over our homeland. After the attacks, I fought to defend our homeland from the growing threat of terrorism fueled by radical extremism.
I know what the face of terror looks like, and this new threat to homeland is killing Americans indiscriminately, yet the terrorists who commit these acts are not motivated by distorted religious views. They are motivated by profit with the goal of destabilizing the United States.

On 9/11, we were introduced to Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and ISIS. Today, thanks to Joe Biden’s open border policy, the United States has been introduced to the Sinaloa, Gulf, Juarez, Knights Templar, and Los Zetas cartels, just to name a few.
These are the new faces of terror and the Biden administration is doing nothing to stop them. His campaign of deadly drug trafficking and brutal violence has gripped our communities and is killing Americans every day. These cartels are working tirelessly to bring illegal drugs into the country to profit by killing our youth.
The Mexican cartels have full operational control of our southern border, making it easy for them to smuggle people and drugs into the United States.
The DEA estimates that 90% of all illegal drugs in the United States enter our southern border, which has been responsible for killing more than 100,000 Americans in 2022 alone. These horrific overdoses and deaths can be largely attributed to the record number of illegal immigrants being used as involuntary mules for the cartels. As a congressman representing part of the greater Houston area, known as the human trafficking capital of the world, closing our southern border would significantly reduce the amount of drugs these cartels smuggle into Texas. Unfortunately, the Biden administration has no plans to stop this activity.

Under the Biden presidency, the United States has lost more people to drug overdoses than Americans perished in World War I. The number of deadly drug overdoses under President Biden is triple the number of Americans who died during the vietnam war. Much of this drug activity is due to the Mexican drug cartels that are rampant throughout the United States.
In addition to preventing the flow of drugs across the border, efforts must be made to eliminate Mexican drug cartels operating within the country. Federal agencies, in conjunction with state and local law enforcement, must launch a comprehensive program to identify, sanction, and take down the cartels operating in our neighborhoods.
those of the DEA last evaluation It found that the main Mexican cartels are operating in at least 60 US cities.
There are steps that local law enforcement can take to stop these cartels, crack down on their drug pipelines, and restore safety to communities, but law enforcement needs the support of the federal government to do it.
One way to address the problem is for the Biden administration to completely revamp the Justice Department’s Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). Despite having more than 5 federal agencies involved in this task force, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Patrol are completely absent from this task force, even though the Department of Justice admits 97% of all drugs smuggled into the United States. enter through our southern border.

Additionally, Congress needs to establish new grant programs that increase funding for state and local law enforcement agencies to attack drug organizations in their own communities. These grants would be used to provide equipment, hire new officers, and establish training programs to help local officers better deal with Mexican cartel activity. These grant programs would also help deter these cartels from continuing their illegal activities within the United States.
Measures must also be taken to prevent more drugs from entering the country, and the best way to do this is by strengthening our southern border with Mexico. Congress must invest in the latest border security technology, personnel, and most importantly, finish the wall along our southern border. As it stands, there are currently 74 border walls around the world. America should be no different.
