As a comic book journalist who has most of her work published online, it’s pretty easy to find pieces I wrote years ago that I don’t totally agree with anymore. I have grown as an artist and as a person, and these articles stay to remind me that change is possible, even inevitable. In particular this piece on body hair that I wrote for The Lily in 2018. Upon rereading, it becomes clear how much I struggled with the idea of my nieces growing up in a world that demands they change their bodies. I left you with this: “Do what makes you feel good and be nice to those who make different choices.” But now I’m acknowledging the flaws in that message, which indeed requires a lot of self-examination, starting with an important question:
